Bradford Mela, part of the Bradford Festival, takes place in June every year and thousands of people from across the region attend. Held in Peel Park in Bradford, the Mela was held on Saturday 17th June and Sunday 18th June this year. After a hectic afternoon on personal fronts, Jaan attended the Mela late Sunday afternoon and found it to be remarkably and uncharacteristically dull. Marred by constant rain and overpriced food it was a nowhere as good as the previous years. But then that is our opinion. If you attended the Mela this year and found it otherwise then let us know. You can view the Mela photo album here.
This week we bring you football action from 1988. This match between two Asian teams was played out on old Thornes House school (now Wakefield College) grounds. In the good old days we used to play many a football and cricket matches here and down at the bottom of the park (where the athletics stadium is now). Can you name the teams? Do you recognise any of the players?
