An under-18 and under-14 football tournament took place recently to raise money for the victims of the South Asia earthquake. Young people from all parts of the community helped by participating in the football tournament and raising money. Several teams took part in the competition to produce two clear winners.
A new £1.4msport complex has just opened at Wakefield City High School. The Centre offers a new sports hall, gym and shower facilities. The centre is open to the public 6-10pm Mon-Fri and 10-4pm Sat.
Sport 4U is a new community group setup to help young people back into sport. A girls group is held every Saturday 10am-12pm for girls aged 8-19. The boys group runs on Saturday 12-2pm for 8-19 year olds.

A court case is being fought out to challenge the legality of a parking ticket issued at the Bradford Mela in June 2005. It appears that hundreds of other motorists were issued fixed penalty notices for alleged illegal parking. is with regret that we have to report the sad demise of our ever-green
friend M Sain Akbar who passed away on Friday 9th Dec 2005. He had
recently
travelled to
AJK and suffered a heart attack. Two weeks later he suffered another
heart attack and passed away. He leaves a family in Wakefield.
M Sain originates from the Kotli dist. of AJK and came to Britain in
the 60s settling in Leeds. In 1972 he moved to Wakefield and lived here
ever since. Known for his continous smile and regular dose of
pistachios, he will be greatly missed.
Young people from Wakefield took part in a charity cricket tournament to help raise money for the victims of the Tsunami disaster.
All the money raised was donated to Families Relief. Winners of the tournament were awarded with trophies. All participants left with a certificate of achievement.
